Possible AVENGERS 4 Leak Offers New Details, and Time Travel May Not Be Part of the Story

One of the biggest fan theories regarding Avengers 4 is that time travel will be used to fix what Thanos has done. In fact, Ant-Man and The Wasp seemed to confirm this theory with the quantum realm as Scott Lang was warned not to get sucked into a time vortex.

Maybe this was a way to throw fans off, because some recent possible information has come to light that says time travel may not be a part of the story after all.

Screenwriter Stephen McFeely has said in the past that fans have “no idea what Avengers 4 is.” He explained:

"Nobody knows, and that’s what makes me particularly excited. I look all the time on the internet: people have no idea! [Avengers] 4 resolves the intrigue of Infinity War; [the movies are] clearly linked, but they almost seem to belong to two different genres. We did not want to cut a film in half and say, 'Pay now and come back in a year for the rest!' These are two very different stories, on a tonal and structural level."

Before we get into the details:

In this latest rumor regarding the film, which comes from a supposed source that shared the info on Marvel Studios Spoilers Reddit, time travel will not be a thing in the story. Instead, it will deal with a parallel universe/multiverse. The source says:

There's no time travel. It's shifting through parallel dimensions. The entire film. The general public is extremely primed on this already. With whole arcs revolving around the subject matter in the Arrowverse + Things like Into The Spider-Verse on it's way. If you ever read Jonathan Hickman's Infinity, you'll know that the Builders are out to destroy all Earth's because the events of another series that took place on two alternate Earth's alongside far far too much time travel causes tears across the multiverse and essentially a domino event that will destroy all realities. And at the center of each obliteration is Earth because that is where this massive reality warping and molestation took place.

They go on to say that the story follows the main team “bouncing around the entire time. It gets so wild because almost everyone who was even in a supporting role comes back and often plays a completely different role in their universe than the one we originally saw them in. So many Easter eggs from the past 10 years get worked into much much bigger roles with a lot of these characters as well.”

That sounds like it will make for one hell of wild movie! The source, who claims to be working on pre-viz work for Marvel Disney, said that one of his favorite set pieces is “this scene where reality is just crumbling. They’re in a skyscraper that's being flooded. If you thought Infinity War was game changing, this is one is going to completely floor you.”

There are also a few other side notes that were shared. One of them includes Dr. Strange being put in a situation where he will have to cause his own car crash from the first Doctor Strange movie.

It’s also said that Rocket Raccoon was initially going to get killed by Thanos and Groot would have survived. As for how that might have played out, it’s said:

In A4 we'd return to most of the crew operating out of Wakanda, everyone would be able to speak Groot, he would actually be super smart having aged a few years and realizing his responsibilities as a hero to work closely with Bruce, Shuri, and Tony. Ultimately this seemed to lighthearted and got scrapped.

Again, these are just rumors for now. None of this has been confirmed, but it’s still fun to theorize and discuss what we might see in Avengers 4. Even if this leak does turn out to be bullshit, what do you think of the concept? Is this something that you might want to see happen in Avengers 4?
