Possible Runtime for THE MANDALORIAN AND GROGU Revealed and It’s Not a Short Ride
Anticipation is climbing for The Mandalorian and Grogu, the upcoming theatrical chapter that continues the story launched in The Mandalorian on Disney+.
Fans have been eager to see how the galaxy-spanning adventure of Din Djarin and his tiny Force-wielding companion plays out on the big screen, and now a new update may have revealed how long we’ll be sitting in the theater for the ride.
A listing from U.K. theater chain Odeon Cinemas has surfaced online and it currently shows a runtime of 2 hours and 20 minutes for the film. The number hasn’t been officially confirmed by Lucasfilm or Disney yet, but if it holds, it gives us a solid idea of the scale of the next chapter in this corner of the Star Wars universe.
A runtime around 140 minutes lines up nicely with many of the live-action Star Wars movies released during the Disney era. Most entries have landed somewhere between roughly 135 and 140 minutes. One of the longer ones was Star Wars: The Last Jedi, which ran 2 hours and 32 minutes.
If this runtime turns out to be accurate, The Mandalorian and Grogu would essentially deliver the equivalent of several episodes of The Mandalorian back-to-back.
Episodes of the series have bounced around quite a bit in length over the years, sometimes dipping under 30 minutes and sometimes stretching closer to 45 minutes. A 2 hour and 20 minute film would roughly equal four or even five episodes stitched together into one cinematic story.
The film brings Din Djarin and Grogu’s journey to theaters following the massive popularity of the streaming series. The movie is directed by Jon Favreau, who has been a driving force behind the show since the beginning.
Pedro Pascal returns as the helmeted bounty hunter Din Djarin, and he’s joined by Sigourney Weaver and Jeremy Allen White as Rotta the Hutt.
With the duo finally stepping onto the big screen, it’ll be col to see how the story expands beyond the episodic structure fans are used to.
A runtime of over two hours suggests a pretty substantial adventure for Din and Grogu, and hopefully one that delivers plenty of action, character moments, and maybe even a few surprises from across the Star Wars galaxy.
The Mandalorian and Grogu is currently set to hit theaters on May 22, 2026.
