A few weeks ago, we reported that Riverdale and Chilling Adventures of Sabrina creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa was rebooting the 2010 teen drama series Pretty Little Liars for Warner Bros. We have now learned that the series has been picked up by HBO Max, and they’ve released a teaser for the series, revealing its new title. Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin is based on the books by Sara Shepard, and “will feature a new story and new characters under the tagline: New town. New secrets. New Little Liars.”

Here’s the synopsis for the new series from Deadline:

Twenty years ago, a series of tragic events almost ripped the blue-collar town of Millwood apart. Now, in the present day, a group of disparate teen girls — a brand-new set of Little Liars — find themselves tormented by an unknown Assailant and made to pay for the secret sin their parents committed two decades ago…as well as their own. In the dark, coming-of-rage, horror-tinged drama Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin, we find ourselves miles away from Rosewood, but within the existing Pretty Little Liars universe — in a brand-new town, with a new generation of Little Liars.

The news of the reboot was met with confusion, as the original series ended just three years ago. But I guess it makes more sense knowing that this series will include new characters, and new stories. Check out the title teaser below, and let us know if you’ll tune in to watch Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin on HBO Max.
