Jerry Bruckheimer Gives Update on Johnny Depp's Return as Captain Jack Sparrow in PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN 6

Disney Studios has been working hard for a long time to bring Pirates of the Caribbean 6 to theaters. With rumors swirling about whether or not Johnny Depp will be returning to the role of Captain Jack Sparrow, a lot is riding on this next film to bring audiences back to the franchise.

Producer Jerry Bruckheimer has been spearheading this film for almost a decade, and has been the one to give updates and keep the film in the news, so when The Direct caught up with him at the Producers Guild Awards, they asked for an update.

The outlet asked Bruckheimer, "There have been rumors swirling that new Pirates films are being developed without Johnny Depp. What are your thoughts on the idea of potentially leaving him behind and then passing the torch to someone new?" The producer responded, "First of all, that's not true. No, no, no. Johnny... if it's up to me, he'll be in it."

Seeing Johnny Depp return to the Pirates franchise would not only boost hype but also provide a satisfying bridge between past and future if the rumors that the next movie's focus will be on Jack Sparrow's son turn out to be true.

Depp has stated in the past that he was done with the role, but in 2023, the actor told People that "anything is possible" regarding a potential return, so it sounds like fans can probably gear up to see it happen. But as always, we will just have to wait and see what happens.
