Provocative First Look at Rachel Weisz's VLADIMIR and Netflix Sets March Premiere

Netflix has locked in a March 5 premiere date for Vladimir, a new limited series that is sure to stir up some serious conversation. Adapted from Julia May Jonas’ acclaimed novel, the eight-episode drama stars Rachel Weisz in the lead role, with Leo Woodall and John Slattery rounding out the top of the cast.

Weisz isn’t just in front of the camera here. She’s also serving as an executive producer, and the early images suggest this is going to be one of her most daring and layered performances in years.

According to the official logline, “When a passionate but reckless professor’s (Weisz) world begins to unravel, she finds herself dangerously fixated on her magnetic new colleague (Woodall)…As boundaries blur and secrets simmer, she’ll risk everything to bring her most scandalous fantasies to life.”

That setup gives a pretty clear sense of the tone. This isn’t a quiet campus drama. It’s a story about obsession, power, desire, and the choices that can wreck a carefully built life in a hurry.

First-look photos and teaser art have now been released, offering a glimpse at the charged dynamic between Weisz’s unraveling professor and Woodall’s enigmatic new colleague. The early imagery leans heavily into mood and tension, selling the idea that this is going to be an intimate, psychologically sharp series.

The ensemble cast around them includes Ellen Robertson, Jessica Henwick, Matt Walsh, Kayli Carter, Miriam Silverman, Mallori Johnson, Tattiawna Jones, and Louise Lambert. It’s the kind of lineup that suggests Netflix is treating Vladimir as a prestige project, not just another quick binge.

Julia May Jonas, who created and wrote the series, also executive produces. Filmmakers Shari Springer Berman and Robert Pulcini also executive produce and direct the first two episodes.

Directing duties are split across a small group of filmmakers. Berman and Pulcini launch the series, Francesca Gregorini takes episodes three, six, and seven, and Josephine Bornebusch handles episodes four and five.

Vladimir might end up being one of Netflix’s more talked-about limited series.
