PUNISHER: WAR ZONE's Lexi Alexander To Direct an Episode of SUPERGIRL
Lexi Alexander first caught my attention ten years ago with the excellent and under-seen Green Street Hooligans, and though her next film — 2008's Punisher: War Zone — didn't do very well financially, it exposed Alexander to a wider audience and made her a go-to choice any time fans put together a wish list of directors for superhero or action-heavy movie projects.
She directed an episode of Arrow that aired this past October, and now it looks like the talented filmmaker is heading to a different superhero TV series: Supergirl. She took to Twitter this morning to cryptically hint at the impending announcement:
Her friend Patton Oswalt wasn't nearly as cryptic:
And then she basically came out and said it:
I'm happy for Alexander, and hopefully she'll be able to parlay this into more work on a larger scale again, if that's what she's interested in doing. Supergirl was just picked up for seven more episodes in its first season, and Alexander's tweet seems to indicate that she'll be filming sometime between now and the end of the year, so we can probably expect her episode to air sometime early in 2016.
