Quentin Tarantino Talks KILL BILL VOL. 3 and Wants to Cast Maya Hawke as the Daughter of The Bride
Quentin Tarantino has been talking about the possibility of making a Kill Bill Vol. 3 for years. It’s one of several ideas that he has been considering as his final film. A couple of years ago, the filmmaker said that the sequel is “definitely in the cards” and that it could happen in three years. So, next year would be the year to make it if he’s going to!
When previously talking about Kill Bill Vol. 3, the filmmaker said, “I’ve wondered what happens to the Bride 10 years later, 15 years later, what happens to her daughter.” Well, in a recent interview with The Joe Rogan Experience, Tarantino talked a little bit about the film and says he wants to cast Maya Hawke (Stranger Things) to play the daughter of The Bride, who was awesomely played by her real-life mother, Uma Thurman.
"I think it’s just revisiting the characters twenty years later and just imagining the Bride and her daughter, BB, having 20 years of peace, and then that peace is shattered. And now the Bride and BB are on the run and just the idea of being able to cast Uma [Thurman] and cast her daughter Maya [Hawke] in the thing would be fucking exciting."
Tarantino previously worked with Maya Hawke in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. She played a member of the Manson family in the film. I love the idea fo Maya Hawke and Uma Thurman starring together in Kill Bill Viol. 3! Tarantino seems pretty excited about the idea, so maybe there’s actually a chance that he could make this sequel. When talking about the project years ago, the director said:
“I wouldn't be surprised if The Bride made one more appearance before the whole thing is said and done. I've been talking to Uma about it just a little bit. Some of the stuff that I've written and never made it into the movie that maybe I could use and thinking, 'OK, now, thirteen years later, what would be going on with Sofie Fatale, what would be going on with Elle Driver?'
The thing that does attract me to the idea — and I wasn't too attracted to it before because I felt like I said what I had to say, and I kind of liked the idea of Beatrix Kiddo living out the rest of her life in peace, to some degree — I think Kill Bill is probably my most visionary movie. And that's not me saying how good it is, it's just a very vision oriented movie and I create this world that doesn't exist. Where on planes, there's holders for your samurai sword (laughs).”
One story idea that a lot of fans have wanted to see play out in a third film centers on the young girl in the brutal kitchen fight scene getting revenge for The Bride killing her mom, Vernita Green. Vivica A. Fox said that she would want to see Spider-Man star Zendeya take on the role of Vernita Green’s adult daughter.
What do you think about Tarantino wanting to cast Maya Hawke in Kill Boll Vol. 3? Do you think he’ll actually make this movie?
