Ralph Macchio and Jackie Chan Are Teaming Up For a New KARATE KID Movie
Ralph Macchio and Jackie Chan are teaming up to star in a new Karate Kid movie set up at Sony Pictures. Macchio is the actor who started it all, way back in 1984, and the franchise has since been revived as the awesome Cobra Kai series where he’s reprised his role. Chan starred in the 2010 remake of the film as a character named Mr. Han. Now, these two characters will share the screen with each other in a whole new story.
Macchio will reprise his role as Daniel LaRusso and Chan will once again take on the role of Mr. Han, the kung fu master who helped Jaden Smith learn martial arts to fend off bullies.
There aren’t any details to share in regards to the plot of the film, but it’s reported “that it will mark a continuation of the mythology of the original franchise.” I imagine that this movie will come after the Cobra Kai series ends up coming to an end.
The movie will be directed by Jonathan Entwistle (The End of the F***ing World) from a script written by Rob Lieber, with Karen Rosenfelt producing. The movie is set for release by Sony Pictures on December 13, 2024.
In the video below, you can see the two actors make the big announcement, and they also reveal that there’s going to be a global casting search for the next Karate Kid!
Are you excited to learn that Macchio and Chan will be starring in a new Karate Kid movie together?!
