Reports of CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM Ending Are “Greatly Exaggerated" and The Door Isn't Closed
It was recently reported that Larry David’s Curb Your Enthusiasm would likely end with Season 12. When the series wrapped production it was said that it ended with a “final episode” that “felt like a homecoming.”
Jon Hayman, writer and producer on Curb, shared in a deleted tweet a photo of himself with the show’s creator and star, Larry David, and he wrote: “Maybe you love the show. Maybe you hate the show. Maybe you don’t give a shit. In any event, shooting the last scene of the last episode of the final season.”
Curb co-star Richard Lewis also tweeted about filming his last-ever scene of the series, saying: “There I was a few hours ago in my trailer on location to shoot my last scene of #Curb12. Hard to believe we started in 2000. The cast and crew all knew we were working for a genius. When that rarity happens, no one ever takes a moment for granted. We love you LD.”
While it sounds like the series will be coming to an end after Season 12, Executive producer Jeff Schaffer recently told Deadline that isn’t the case! He said: “Reports of our demise have been greatly exaggerated. We literally just finished shooting last week. So, yeah, we’re done.” But the door isn’t closed! He went on to explain:
“My first season was Season 5. And you know what the final episode of that season was called? ‘The End.’ Not ironically. That was 15 years ago. So every season is the last season. It’s been this way forever. Larry’s put all the ideas he likes into the season. He’s the only one who thinks he’s never gonna have another good idea. So, of course, he’s done for a while. But you know, usually he goes out and has spirited encounters with the westside of Los Angeles and then ideas come. So we’re in the same spot we’re always in. It’s just business as usual.”
When asked about the door on the series not being closed, Schaffer insisted, “There’s not even a door.” As for what we can expect to see from Season 12, all he said was that it is “very, very fun.” He added: “It was some of the hardest I’ve ever laughed on set.”
Schaffer went on to talk about the process of making the show, saying: “We write it three times because we write the outline, we write it on set, and we’re writing in the edit room now. It’s great. It’s gonna be a great season. I’m really excited about it. And I think people are really, really gonna like it.”
I’m a big fan of Curb! I can’t wait to see Season 12, and I’m happy to learn that there’s a very real chance that we may see another season one day!
