Reroll is a Fantastic App for RPG Players and DMs Available to the Public Now
Roughly eight months ago, I wrote about a visual Dungeons & Dragons character sheet called Reroll. Now, I’m here to tell you that the app has finally launched for the public and it’s pretty cool. You can create characters using D&D’s SRD content which is limiting, but you can always import homebrew data using JSON files and Google Drive links. In addition, you can create your character via pixel art. This is really what sets Reroll apart from everything else. There are several character sheet apps out there, but this is the first I’ve seen that lets you create a physical representation of your character.
I love the customization options available. You can choose from 14 different races and then customize various aspects. Probably the best part is that you can pick something because you like the design, and then change the colors to better match your aesthetic! Of course, I do hope that the team at Givola Labs continues to work on the app and add more races (particularly Firbolgs and Yuan-Ti Purebloods), but this is a fantastic start. Also, if you already use a different character sheet system like Roll20 or D&D Beyond, this is still awesome because you can make just the artwork.
This is perfect for DMs, too! Heck, this makes it great for anyone regardless of what fantasy TTRPG they play. Givola Labs was kind enough to send me a key to have unlimited characters and my wife won’t stop making avatars for her NPCs.
Now, the app is free, but if you don’t spend any money, you are limited to only one character. You can spend $10 though and unlock unlimited character slots. It’s so cool!
Now, I do want to admit that there are some things I don’t like about the app besides the limited races. You can change your face, but most of the time I can’t tell the difference until it’s adding an eye patch or facial hair. It would also be nice to be able to adjust height and body type beyond Masculine and Feminine someday. However, these are pretty nitpicky things in my opinion.
I love Reroll, but if you’re still not sure it’s worth $10, simply use it for free to create a character and go from there. You can download Reroll on Android or iOS or you can access it through your web browser as well. You can check out a random Tiefling I made using Reroll below.
