Rian Johnson Looking To Start Shooting KNIVES OUT 3 This Year
It looks like director Rian Johnson is looking to shoot Knives Out 3 later this year. The filmmaker is writing and directing the sequel, which will once again feature Daniel Craig as Benoit Blanc trying to solve another twisty whodunnit murder mystery.
The news comes from Deadline in a report focusing on producer Katie McNeil (Blue Valentine and The Zookeeper's Wife) as she joins Ram Bergman and Rian Johnson's independent studio T-Street. In recent months, the company has produced projects such as Poker Face, Fair Play and American Fiction.
Johnson and Bergman said in a statement: "Our approach to movies is the same as when we made Brick. Find great people to work with who are both talented and nice to be around. Katie is that and more and we're so excited to welcome her to the team."
McNeill added: "I have been a fan of Rian and Ram's work since Brick, and I admire what they have built together. They have achieved an impressive body of work while also supporting some of the most inspiring filmmakers in the business. I am deeply grateful for the faith they have in me and I am honored to be joining their team."
When previously offering an update on Knives Out 3, Johnson said: “It’s coming along. I obviously couldn’t work during the strike, and now that it’s over, I’m diving in full force, and so it’s coming along. I’ve got the premise, I’ve got the setting, I’ve got what the movie is in my head. It’s just a matter of writing the damn thing.”
It sounds like Johnson is doing just that and if it shoots this year, we can expect it to be released at some point in 2025.
