RICK AND MORTY Season 8 Lands Release Date with Fun First Teaser Trailer
It’s been a long time coming, but Rick and Morty Season 8 officially has a release date and a teaser trailer to go with it.
Adult Swim made the announcement as part of its annual April Fool’s Day hijinks, revealing that the next chapter of the interdimensional chaos kicks off May 25th at 11:00PM ET/PT.
This new season arrives later than fans are used to. For years, Rick and Morty had maintained a relatively steady annual release schedule. But after Season 7 wrapped, Adult Swim confirmed that Season 8 would be delayed into 2025, largely due to production slowdowns tied to the WGA strike.
On top of that, the show has been navigating some major behind-the-scenes changes. Prior to Season 7, Adult Swim parted ways with co-creator and former lead voice actor Justin Roiland.
The show reintroduced itself with Ian Cardoni voicing Rick and Harry Belden as Morty, and to the surprise of many, fans embraced the new voices. The rest of the core cast—Chris Parnell, Spencer Grammer, Sarah Chalke, and Dan Harmon—remains intact.
Harmon, who continues to lead the creative charge, commented on the return: “Nobody wants a universe without Rick and Morty. Fortunately, the list of places to go remains infinite.”
Series showrunner Scott Marder added: “I couldn’t be prouder to have taken this baton pass of a lifetime during Rick and Morty’s fourth season and get us to Season 10. Getting to go beyond that now is such a gift I can’t wait to give our fans. Rick and Morty – a hundred years – forever!”
Season 8 will no doubt continue the absurdist, sci-fi storytelling the show is known for, pushing deeper into the multiverse with its signature mix of genius and nihilism. Enjoy the trailer!
