Ridley Scott Regrets Not Directing BLADE RUNNER 2049
Director Denis Villeneuve did an incredible job with Blade Runner 2049 and, for the most part, the fans of the franchise loved the movie. Ridley Scott wasn’t able to direct it because he was making Alien: Covenant at the time, but Scott no regrets the decision he made and he thinks he should’ve directed Blade Runner 2049.
When talking about the decision he had to make between the two films, Scott told Empire: "I shouldn't have had to make that decision. But I had to. I should have done Blade Runner 2."
I mean, out of the two, Blade Runner 2049 was definitely the better movie, and honestly, the way that it turned out, I’m glad that Villeneuve made it! There’s no doubt that when he watched that movie and saw how good it turned out, he immediately regretted choosing Alien: Covenant.
What’s done is done, though! Scott did serve as a producer on Blade Runner 2049, and he will also produce the upcoming Prime Video TV series Blade Runner 2099. When talking about that he said: "I'm one of the producers. It's all set years on. To me, it circles the idea of Aldous Huxley's Brave New World."
I’m looking forward to the future of the Blade Runner franchise and I’m sure this series will turn out great. But, it would be nice to see another Blade Runner movie up on the big screen. If we did get another Blade Runner film, I think I’d rather see Villeneuve direct it over Scott. What do you think?
