Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld stirred up the pot with Deadpool fans when he recently came out and said that Marvel Studios has “zero” plans for Deadpool 3. He said:

"I don't know. Here's what people don't want to hear, but thank God I'm a realist. I feel like Deadpool, the movies, they've set sail… You want to know the plan with Deadpool right now? They have a goose egg, zero, zero.”

A lot of fans jumped on Liefeld for what he said, many of which are saying he doesn’t know anything and that he’s wrong. Well, he’s now clarifying his remarks and doubled down on his previous comments, saying:

"Do I know that there is no movement on a Deadpool 3 right now? I know that. Yes. And does that worry me? No. Not at all. What I did was I answered a question honestly. And what I learned this week is just lie. Just tell people everything is lollipop and unicorns and rainbows and you’ll be better off in your life because people want to be lied to."

As for the previous reports of there being a Deadpool 3 movie in development, Liefeld says:

"Just because some guy goes, ‘Yeah, We’re still moving along’ that’s code for ‘There’s nothing to see here.’"

That ‘some guy’ he’s talking about must be Ryan Reynolds. Reynolds is the guy that has said the film was in development. Some sites are reporting that Liefeld may be upset because he's not listed as a producer on the movie after a call sheet surfaced late last year. But, he wants everyone to know that’s something that doesn’t concern him. He makes a lot of money off Deadpool either way:

"I have Deadpool revenue streams that have existed since 1991...I already get paid. If you make this movie [or not], I’m getting a fat check."

In the end, Liefeld explains that he just wants Ryan Reynolds to be in charge of any future Deadpool films if they happen:

"My opinion is Ryan [Reynolds] should be steering the ship and just completely handed the reins, even to the point of plugging characters in...Give him three characters he can integrate and let him integrate them. If people ask what I want to see, that’s where it begins. Just please don’t micromanage the guy. Just give him free rein."

Maybe Liefeld knows some things we don’t know. In the five months since Reynolds said a Deadpool 3 movie was in development, there could have been creative disagreements between Kevin Feige and Reynolds about how Deadpool should be handled in the MCU, and those kinds of things kill film projects all the time. I hope that’s not the case, but Liefeld seems pretty confident with the knowledge he has. It’s obviously not going to hurt him in any way if it doesn’t happen so he’s got nothing to lose by saying these things.

I guess we’ll we’ll find out at some point what is happening with Deadpool 3. I hope that it’s still happening! I hope Liefeld is wrong!
