Robert Downey Jr Reveals the Animal Voice Cast for VOYAGE OF DOCTOR DOLITTLE
Robert Downey Jr. took to social media to reveal who would voice the animals in his next project, The Voyage of Doctor Dolittle. There are 12 announcements, so please bear with us: Emma Thompson will play a parrot named Polynesia, Selena Gomez will be Betsy the Giraffe, Rami Malek will voice Chee-Chee who is a gorilla, Kumail Nanjiani will be an ostrich named Plimpton, a duck named Dab-Dab will be voiced by Octavia Spencer, Barry will be a tiger voiced by Ralph Fiennes, Craig Robinson will play a mouse named Fleming, wrestler turned actor John Cena will play the polar bear Yoshi, Carmen Ejogo will be Regine who is a lioness, Ginko-who-Soars will be voiced by Frances de la Tour, Tom Holland will surprisingly not be a spider but rather a dog named Jip, and finally, Marion Cotillard will play Tutu the fox.
I imagine the film will be an adaptation of the second Doctor Dolittle book by Hugh Lofting which originally came out in 1922. Stephen Gaghan is directing the film and rewrote the script originally penned by Tom Sheppard. Production of the film is set to begin by the end of this month and the release date is currently set for April 12, 2019. Are you excited for Downey’s portrayal of the doctor who can talk to animals? Do you think he’ll be able to pull off a Welsh accent for the film?
