Robert Pattinson May Be Joining Denis Villeneuve’s DUNE: MESSIAH
As director Denis Villeneuve fine-tunes the script for Dune: Messiah, the next chapter in his grand adaptation of Frank Herbert’s sci-fi epic, Deadline is reporting that Robert Pattinson might be the newest actor to join the saga.
While nothing is official yet, multiple sources say there’s “strong interest” in casting Pattinson in a key role. Legendary has kept quiet, offering no comment on the reports.
If a deal is made, Pattinson’s role will reportedly be a major one, though details on who he could be playing are still under wraps.
Production is expected to kick off this summer. The returning cast includes the likes of Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Florence Pugh, and Anya Taylor-Joy would all be returning to the sequel. You can also expect to see more familiar faces.
Even with the core ensemble largely intact, the next installment has room for new blood, and in a universe as rich and layered as Dune, that’s always an exciting prospect.
This franchise has grown into something massive. Between Dune: Part One and Part Two, the films have earned over $1.12 billion worldwide and pulled in a combined 15 Oscar nominations, including Best Picture nods for both.
The cinematic entries now sit alongside the HBO/Max prequel series Dune: Prophecy, which premiered last November and is set 10,000 years before Paul Atreides’ rise. That show was helmed by Lost alum Alison Schapker and launched to critical praise.
As for Pattinson, the guy's been busy. He just wrapped The Drama, an A24 film where he stars opposite Dune co-star Zendaya. He also recently completed Die, My Love with Jennifer Lawrence, directed by Lynne Ramsay, and is currently working on Christopher Nolan’s adaptation of The Odyssey.
There’s no offer on the table yet, but the idea of seeing Pattinson step into the Dune universe feels more real by the day.
