Robert Pattinson Teases His Version of Bruce Wayne in THE BATMAN - "He's Not a Hero"
While the fans wait to see what exactly director Matt Reeves has planned for The Batman, actor Robert Pattinson teases what his version of the character will be like. In fact, while talking to The New York Times, the actor explained that Bruce Wayne is not a hero. He explains:
“Batman’s not a hero, though. He’s a complicated character. I don’t think I could ever play a real hero — there’s always got to be something a little bit wrong. I think it’s because one of my eyes is smaller than the other one.”
When asked about what excites him most about playing Batman, Pattinson says:
“I love the director, Matt Reeves, and it’s a dope character. His morality is a little bit off. He’s not the golden boy, unlike almost every other comic-book character. There is a simplicity to his worldview, but where it sits is strange, which allows you to have more scope with the character.”
Yeah, I’d say that’s a fair assessment of the character. I’m really curious to see how he’s going to bring this character to life on the big screen. But, I imagine it will be very different from anything that we’ve seen before, and that’s a good thing! I don’t want to see what’s been done before. I want to see something different and unique and I think Reeves and Pattinson will give that to us.
Zoe Kravitz was recently cast in the role of Catwoman and Jeffrey Wright will play Commissioner James Gordon. Jonah Hill was in talks to play a villain in the movie, but that’s no longer the case. He dropped out of the running.
The Batman will be a noir style film that will lean into Batman as a detective. It’s scheduled to hit theaters June 25th, 2021.
