Robert Pattinson Teases THE BATMAN: PART II Will Take “Some Big Swings”

Fans seems to like getting little updates on The Batman: Part II, and now Robert Pattinson is offering a tease at what’s coming next. While promoting his latest film The Drama alongside Zendaya, the actor dropped some interesting comments about Matt Reeves’ upcoming sequel and it sounds like this next chapter isn’t playing it safe.

Pattinson, who returns as Gotham’s brooding vigilante, spoke about the script and didn’t hold back his excitement.

“The script is extraordinary,” Pattinson told Deadline. “I think it’s going to be a really, really special movie and very, very different.”

The first film carved out a gritty, grounded take on the Dark Knight, so hearing that the sequel shifts in a new direction raises all kinds of questions. Pattinson himself seemed a bit surprised by the direction Reeves is taking.

The actor said, “It’s going to be interesting seeing it come out. It’s taking some big swings.”

That idea of the film pushing into unexpected territory is something that’s clearly baked into Reeves’ vision, and Pattinson isn’t the only one hyping what’s coming.

Colin Farrell, who transformed into Oswald “Oz” Cobb in the first film, has also read the script and came away seriously impressed. He previously said:

“I had many thoughts to share with Matt about the script. I really do think it’s a masterwork. Kind of a contemporary genre masterwork. It’s so brilliant, and Robert has got such a lovely journey to go on and take the audience through.”

He went on to emphasize just how layered the story is shaping up to be, saying: “It’s dense, it’s really really intelligent, it’s so deep and detailed. I’m saying too much. I think he’s going to make an extraordinary film.”

Between Pattinson’s tease about the film taking risks and Farrell calling it a “masterwork,” it sounds like Reeves is aiming to evolve this franchise in a big and interesting way. That could mean a shift in tone, scale, or even the kind of villains Batman will face next.

Production on The Batman: Part II is expected to kick off this spring, with the film currently set to hit theaters on October 1, 2027. There’s also some great new cast members including Scarlett Johansson and Sebastian Stan.

It’s still early, but everything we’re hearing points to a sequel that’s looking to expand on what made the first film work while also trying something new.
