Rosario Dawson Honors George Lucas from the Set of AHSOKA Season 2: “I Couldn't Be More Grateful”

While deep in production on Ahsoka Season 2, Rosario Dawson took a moment to send birthday wishes, and sincere thanks, to the man who started it all: George Lucas. The Star Wars creator turned 81 this week, and Dawson marked the occasion with a heartfelt message from the galaxy far, far away.

“HBD George Lucas. Thank you for creating our STAR WARS family that I couldn't be more grateful to be a part of…” she wrote on Instagram, sharing a behind-the-scenes photo from set.

The image, a shadowy silhouette of three familiar figures, is likely Dawson herself (Ahsoka), Dave Filoni (cowboy hat gives him away), and Natasha Liu Bordizzo (Sabine Wren).

It’s a small but meaningful tribute that reflects how Star Wars continues to evolve under the stewardship of Filoni and the new generation of actors, while still honoring the legacy Lucas built.

Season 2 of Ahsoka only recently kicked off filming, so we’ve got a long way to go before we see anything from the next season of the series, but I’m looking forward to seeing how this story continues.

Fans got their first real tease of what’s to come during Star Wars Celebration 2025, where Filoni unveiled concept art and confirmed the return of several key characters: Sabine, Ezra, Hera, and Hayden Christensen’s Anakin Skywalker.

While story details are still under wraps, Season 2 is expected to pick up where things left off, particularly with the mysterious Baylan Skoll, last seen standing atop a Mortis statue, hinting at deeper Force mythology pulled from The Clone Wars.

There’s no release date yet, but as production continues, we’re keeping our eyes peeled for more sneak peeks and any other news that breaks.
