Rumored Bond Girl Contenders for Next JAMES BOND Movie Include Pugh, Grande, and Watson
The hunt for the next James Bond is on and as fans wonder who will end up in the role there’s another casting race heating up for who will play the new Bond girl in James Bond 26.
Accordin to a recent report, some of Hollywood’s biggest names are reportedly in the mix, including stars from the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the Wicked films.
One of the more surprising contenders is pop superstar Ariana Grande. According to Yahoo, a source revealed that while Harry Potter alum Emma Watson and Marvel favorite Florence Pugh are considered frontrunners, the 7 Rings singer has become “another big contender” for the coveted role.
The insider added that Pugh has a strong chance of landing the role thanks to her proven ability to carry major franchises and her “very strong relationship with incoming 007 director Denis Villeneuve from their work together on Dune.”
Watson is also a top candidate, largely due to her connection with producer David Heyman, who “helped pick her to be the female lead of his Harry Potter movies.” As the source put it, Watson “basically owes her career” to Heyman, which could give her an edge in the selection process.
Still, Grande’s name continues to stand out in the conversation. The source explained, “While Pugh and Watson may have an edge, if Ariana were in a Bond movie, it would make it an event. It’s a tall order, but people believe Ariana is up for the challenge!”
Apparently, producers are “incredibly impressed with what Ariana has done with the Wicked movies.” They reportedly see her as “the perfect fit for the James Bond they envisage who will be shown to be in his late 20s and who will, ideally, hook a whole new generation on the spy series.”
I seriously doubt this is true. It’s really hard to see Grande as a Bond girl, and I don’t think Watson would be interested in taking on a role like this. Pugh is the most believable contender, but who knows.
Other names linked to the Bond girl role include Sydney Sweeney and Zendaya, though Zendaya’s involvement may only become likely if her fiancé Tom Holland takes on the role of Bond himself, which isn’t goin to happen.
Of course, none of these casting rumors have been officially confirmed, and the unnamed sources mean fans should take this speculation lightly. What do you think about this?
