Rumored Details on AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY’s Sentinels and Who’s Controlling Them
Some new rumors about Avengers: Doomsday are making the rounds, shedding light on how the X-Men might come into play and who’s pulling the strings behind the massive mutant-hunting Sentinels.
The epic crossover even that will include the Avengers, the Fantastic Four, and the X-Men has fans hyped, and it sounds like Earth 10005, home to the Fox-era mutants, will be at the center of the chaos.
According to reports, the Avengers and Fantastic Four travel to this world in search of the missing Franklin Richards, but instead of a friendly team-up, they initially clash with the X-Men. Eventually, they’ll have to join forces to face the Sentinels.
One theory is that when we meet the mutants, they’re already in the middle of an all-out war with these giant machines. That could explain why familiar faces like Rogue, Storm, and Jean Grey might be missing, possibly having already fallen in battle.
A new scooper, James Mack, recently shared some possible details about how the Sentinels fit into the movie, and it sounds like Doctor Doom is the one controlling them.
“Doom will have the ability to control machines/robots through runes, taking command of the X-universe Sentinels. In several concept sketches, the Sentinels are shown with green runes across their bodies.”
If that’s true, it’s a wild twist that gives Doom a magical edge that ties directly into his comic book roots. The idea of him merging sorcery with technology opens the door to all kinds of possibilities, especially the eventual creation of his Doombots.
Mack also claimed that both Famke Janssen and Halle Berry are expected to reprise their roles as Jean Grey and Storm in Avengers: Doomsday. That’s not all, as he also teased what he’s heard about the story for Avengers: Secret Wars.
“Like in the comics, after all the universes are destroyed, Doom creates his own world, and all the heroes forget their past lives and serve God Doom. A small group of surviving heroes tries to reverse the situation, overthrowing Doom from his absolute power over the world.”
Of course, all of this should be taken with a grain of salt. We’re still a long way out from either movie’s release, and things could change. But Mack’s previous leaks about costume designs turned out to be right on the money, so there might be something to what he’s saying here.
Avengers: Doomsday is directed by the Russo Brothers, with a screenplay by Stephen McFeely, who worked with them on Avengers: Endgame and Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Michael Waldron, known for Loki and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, is also involved in shaping the story.
The movie is set to hit theaters on December 18, 2026, with Avengers: Secret Wars following a year later on December 17, 2027.
