Rumored Details on Matt Reeves' THE BATMAN Offers Info on The Penguin, Villains, Robin and More

Some new rumored information has surfaced regarding director Matt Reeves' The Batman. The filmmaker has been working on developing the script for the film for some time now and apparently, he's completed a script and is now in the process of polishing it up.

Before we get into the rumors, which come from CBM, I'll give a little rundown of what we do know. Reeves is looking to make a dark noir-style film that will focus on the detective side of the Dark Knight, and he has an idea for a story arc that would span over the course of a trilogy of films. It's said that he's looking to keep the story grounded but "will introduce at least some slight fantastical elements which fans of the hero will be familiar with." Directors Christopher Nolan, David Lynch, and Michael Mann are also said to be his inspiration.

This new version of Batman will be completely separate from the DCEU films and Ben Affleck is not going to be in it. The filmmaker is said to be looking for someone "younger, slimmer, more agile, and more intense." Jake Gyllenhaal was rumored at one point, but the actor shut that rumor down.

Now let's dive into some of the new details. I just want to remind you that these are just rumors at the moment so take them with a grain of salt. These are just fun little details to discuss and spark conversation about what we might like to see from the movie.

It was recently reported that The Penguin could be the main villain in the story. The version of this Penguin is said to based on the Emperor Penguin version and he's been modeled after "a very dapper looking Richard Armitage." That is the description from some concept art that was seen.

As for the other villains that might show up in the film, we have Two-Face, The Riddler, and Victor Zsasz. All of them are said to be "fairly comic accurate in appearance which is bound to make fans happy." The report also says that these villains might just have minor cameos in the movie.

There's also a piece of concept art that they claimed to have seen that features a design for a female version of Robin. There are three female Robin's that have been featured in the comic books and they include Stephanie Brown, Carrie Kelly, and Helena Wayne. There are no details on who it could be. A female Robin would certainly shake things up, though!

It's also said that Batman will be getting a new heavily armored Batsuit. We don't know what exactly it will look like, or what it will entail, but it's described as being "militarised." This could very well be the new permanent look for the character.

That's what we've got for now! Sound off in the comment section below and let us know what you think of these rumors and what you'd like to see Reeves do with his Batman film.

Hopefully, we get some official details at Comic-Con next month!
