Rumored FANTASTIC FOUR Movie Details Tease How The Characters Will Be Handled in The MCU

This past weekend, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige announced that they were developing a Fantastic Four movie for Phase 4. No other details were given, so fans have been left wondering what to expect from the film and how exactly these characters will be introduced into the MCU.

Well, Cosmic Book News claims to have an inside source at Marvel that offered up some possible details on what Marvel’s plans are for the Fantastic Four. This outlet has been hit and miss on certain rumors, so one thing you need to understand is that this has not been confirmed. They say that this is an idea that is being discussed at Marvel Studios and if there is some truth to it, it could work!

According to the report, “the Fantastic Four will be shown as existing in the past alongside Michael Douglas' Hank Pym and Michelle Pfeiffer's Wasp.” So, where have they been the whole time? They say that they have been trapped in the Negative Zone, “and when they come out, it is the present day and that they haven't aged.”

This is pretty much the same formula that was used for Captain America, instead of being frozen in ice, they were stuck in the Negative Zone. I really do like this idea. I personally hope that the first movie tells a whole story that is set in the 60s which leads them to get stuck in the Negative Zone.

Ant-Man director Peyton Reed has said he wants to direct Fantastic Four and has already pitched his vision of the story to Marvel, which is said to include a 1960s setting that involves the Quantum Realm, and possibly The Black Knight. There’s no word on if he is involved with this project, though.

The report goes on to speculate that if the Negative Zone is introduced and used as part of the origin for the Fantastic Four, “Annihilus could be introduced and possibly even some sort of adaptation of the Annihilation comic book event could happen as a film. Perhaps in the MCU, the Fantastic Four is responsible for Annihilus invading our world, which then introduces Nova or something.”

There’s still so much we don’t know about about how the future of Marvel is going to play out, but I love the Fantastic Four and with Marvel at the creative helm, we know that these characters are finally going to get the awesome film adaptation that they deserve!

What do you think about this Fantastic Four rumor? Would this be a good way to handle the characters? How would you introduce them into the MCU?
