Rumored Plans for Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield's Spider-Man Characters
After Spider-Man: No Way Home became such a huge success, Marvel fans have been wondering when and if we would ever see Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield back in their Spider-Man roles.
There have been a lot of rumors regarding this, but no plans have been confirmed. We’ve got another rumor to share with you today that comes from Hollywood insider Daniel Richtman.
He reports that Sony Pictures does want to bring the two actor back as their respective takes on Spider-Man, which isn’t a surprise. He adds that when they do return, it will be as "key players" in a Multiverse storyline of their own, which will be separate from the MCU.
Apparently, Sony's Tom Rothman and Marvel's Kevin Feige did not agree on bringing these actors back for Spider-Man 4 to reunite again with Tom Holland’s Spider-Man. So this plan that’s coming together must’ve been born out of that.
Of course, Sony would want to see the three Spider-Man characters reunite because that’s the kind of decision that Rothman would make. You’ve got to do something fresh and different, though.
I like the idea of continuing the stories of these characters in separate solo movies set in their own universes. That’s what I wanted to see. The studios just has to make sure to bring great filmmakers on board to tell those stories.
If the studio actually does move forward with this plan, they better not screw it up.
