Rumored Plans for X-Men and Fantastic Four Heading Into AVENGERS: SECRET WARS
The Marvel Cinematic Universe is quickly building toward Avengers: Secret Wars, and fans are already speculating about what that massive event will look like.
The expectation has always been that the story will center on Battleworld, a patchwork planet forged by Doctor Doom after the destruction of the Multiverse. But according to new reports, Marvel may have some surprising plans for both the Fantastic Four and the X-Men as the saga reaches its climax.
It’s worth remembering that Avengers: Doomsday began filming before its script was finalized, so nothing is set in stone yet. Still, the latest scoop from The Cosmic Circus offers some fascinating insight into where things might be heading.
Insider Alex Perez claims the Fantastic Four will find themselves divided by the end of Avengers: Doomsday, with half the team fighting alongside one group of heroes and the rest aligning with another.
That mirrors some of the dramatic twists from Marvel Comics’ Secret Wars, where Mister Fantastic saw his family destroyed, the Human Torch became the literal sun, The Thing turned into a living wall protecting Doom’s castle, and the Invisible Woman was forced into becoming Victor Von Doom’s bride.
Perez also teased that there’s still a “possibility” we’ll see the Council of Reeds show up in the Avengers films, which would open the door to some mind-bending multiversal storytelling.
When it comes to the mutants, things get even more interesting. The report says that “some” of the X-Men from Earth-10005, the universe of the 20th Century Fox films, will be back for Avengers: Secret Wars.
As fans have theorized, it sounds like Doom’s Battleworld will feature a team of multiversal heroes taking a stand against him, while other characters could have their histories rewritten in this new reality.
On top of that, it looks like Marvel isn’t done with Earth-838 either, the universe introduced in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness where the Illuminati once ruled. According to the rumor, we’ll be seeing more characters from that world in the lead-up to Secret Wars.
With Avengers: Secret Wars set up as the Multiverse Saga’s big finale, it seems Marvel is pulling from every corner of its cinematic history to deliver something epic.
The X-Men, the Fantastic Four, the Council of Reeds, Earth-838… if even half of this turns out to be true, fans are in for a wild ride.
