Ryan Reynolds Is Now Referring to DEADPOOL 3 as the "DEADPOOL/WOLVERINE" Movie
It’s still pretty wild to think that Hugh Jackman will be reprising his role as Wolverine in Deadpool 3. That was such an epic announcement, and now the fans can’t wait to see what the madness is going to look like when Ryan Reynold’s Deadpool and Wolverine embark on an adventure together.
We have a little update to share with you thanks to Variety, who is reporting that Reynolds is now referring to the currently untitled Deadpool 3 as the Deadpool/Wolverine movie. He also told them that he "can't wait" to get started. He then shared some insight on what kinds of things draws him to a project saying:
"Sometimes it's the story. Sometimes it's the people. When things really work, it's all of the above. I count 'Deadpool' 1 and 2 in that category, along with 'Free Guy' and 'Adam Project.' When you get to make movies with the people you love, it's what I imagine cocaine feels like."
Jackman previously opened up about what changed his mind about retiring from the Wolverine role and what brought him back. He said everything changed back in 2016 when he went to see Deadpool:
“I went to a screening of ‘Deadpool.’ I was 20 minutes in, and I was like, ‘Ah, damn it!’ All I kept seeing in my head was ‘48 Hours’ with Nick Nolte and Eddie Murphy. So it’s been brewing for a long time. It just took me longer to get here.”
It was during a road trip to the beach with his family, that Jackman made the decision to come back. He ended up calling Reynolds, who’d been pleading “on the daily” for a Wolverine-Deadpool movie. He said: “I think, actually, he’d given up. I think it was a big shock to him. There was a massive pause, and then he said, ‘I can’t believe the timing of this.’” Reynolds was about to meet with Kevin Feige about Deadpool 3. Pretty crazy how that all came together! Jackman also had this to say about coming back:
"I can tell you I'm going to have the time of my life. I can tell you I've started back at the gym and I'm eating a lot, and I feel bad for the cast of The Music Man with the amount of protein shakes I'm having.”
"It's a lot of fun. It's been five years and I really never thought I'd come back. And I'm really, really excited to come back. I do know a little bit about the script but I'm not going to tell you."
When asked if Deadpool 3 will feature an angrier or gentler Logan Jackman said: "There's no choice. He's definitely angrier, grumpy, and he's gonna take a lot of free shots at Ryan Reynolds, let me tell you" Jackman teased, before ending with, "Physically, that is."
The highly-anticipated movie is set to hit theaters on November 8th, 2024.
