Ryan Reynolds Shares Hulk Hands Photo Calling Back to a Fun DEADPOOL & WOLVERINE Joke

Leave it to Ryan Reynolds to revive one of the most ridiculous jokes from the Deadpool universe with a single image.

The actor recently hopped on Instagram and posted a photo of himself wearing oversized Hulk toy arms while staring straight at the camera with a perfectly blank expression.

The caption was short and cryptic: “IYKYK.” For anyone unfamiliar with the shorthand, it means “If you know, you know.” Fans who saw the post definitely knew.

The image quickly spread across social media as fans realized Reynolds was referencing one of the most hilariously inappropriate moments in Deadpool & Wolverine.

In the film, Wade Wilson ends up sitting down with Happy Hogan, played by Jon Favreau, while interviewing for a possible spot with the Avengers.

What starts as a normal conversation quickly spirals into classic Wade Wilson absurdity. During the exchange, Wade casually drops a bizarre confession, telling Hogan he knows he was caught “smashturbating” in Stark Tower’s lobby. Hogan understandably has no clue what he’s talking about and asks him to explain.

Wilson then clarifies in painfully vivid fashion: “When you get those toy Hulk hands, and then you just look down, and you just brace yourself, and you ravage the midsection.”

Hogan’s reaction says everything as he becomes visibly uncomfortable hearing the explanation. It’s the kind of wildly inappropriate humor that has become a trademark of the Deadpool franchise, and Reynolds clearly enjoyed reminding fans about it.

Of course, the internet wouldn’t be the internet without turning the post into speculation. Some fans wondered if the Hulk arms were hinting at a future Marvel Cinematic Universe crossover between Deadpool and the Green Goliath.

Hulk did briefly appear in Deadpool & Wolverine, battling an alternate version of Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine, so the theory didn’t seem completely impossible at first glance.

Others pointed out that Reynolds has played around with Hulk-themed gags before. In Free Guy, his character briefly conjures a Hulk arm while also wielding a Captain America shield during a chaotic fight against another version of himself.

Even with that history, there’s no indication this photo is teasing either Free Guy 2 or some kind of Deadpool vs. Hulk showdown.

Another possible explanation might have nothing to do with Marvel at all. Reynolds is a co-owner of Wrexham AFC, and the team recently secured a 2–0 win against Swansea City on March 13, 2026. The Hulk arms could simply be a goofy way of celebrating the victory.

Whatever the reason, Reynolds clearly enjoys dropping inside jokes that send fans down rabbit holes.

The post also arrived not long after T.J. Miller, who played Weasel in the first two Deadpool movies, hinted that Reynolds already has an idea for where the franchise could go next. Miller said Reynolds shared the concept with him and it left quite an impression.

“You know, it’s just, it is really smart. He told me the idea.” He continued, “I kind of got hair on the back of my neck standing up because I was just like, I didn’t think you could do something that’s even more different than Deadpool & Wolverine.”

Miller also praised Reynolds’ instincts for the character’s style of humor, describing him as a “powerhouse” when it comes to crafting Deadpool’s brand of comedy.

If that next idea ever becomes reality, fans can probably expect the same kind of outrageous jokes that inspired Reynolds to casually pose with Hulk hands in the first place.
