Sam Raimi Reportedly Set To Direct DOCTOR STRANGE 3 For Marvel Studios
It looks like Sam Raimi is coming back to play in the Marvel movie sandbox as the filmmaker is reportedly coming back to direct Doctor Strange 3.
The news comes from Hollywood insider Jeff Sneider, who says Raimi is “definitely” returning to direct the film and that the deal is “all but closed.”
I love that Raimi is returning to direct another Doctor Strange movie! I like Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and I am excited to see Raimi once again bring his signature style to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Raimi has said he had a good experience working with Marvel and that he’d be open to returning. Over the past couple of years, there have been rumors about Raimi being in talks for Spider-Man 4 and Avengers: Secret Wars, but it looks like he’ll be back for a new Doctor Strange story.
Multiverse of Madness ended with a pretty exciting setup for a third film, and it saw Strange walking though New York where he suddenly collapsed in the middle of the street and screamed as a third eye popped open in the middle of his forehead.
Then, in the mid-credits scene, Strange is approached by Clea (Charlize Theron), who is his future love interest and she enlists him to help fix the multiversal incursion he accidentally started earlier in the film.
As a long time fan of Raimi, this is great news! Raimi also recently signed on to direct and produce the remote island thriller Send Help for 20th Century Studios. If this Doctor Strange news is true, I imagine he’ll start work on it after Send Help.
