Samara Weaving Set to Star in '80s-Set Action Thriller BELLA
Ready or Not star Samara Weaving has been cast in the lead role of an ‘80s-set action thriller titled Bella, which is set up at Paramount Pictures. The movie is being directed by Larysa Kondracki (Crawl) from a script written by Jesse Wigutow and Jason Markarian.
The movie is described as being a hyperstylized movie and is set against “the backdrop of a crime wave that gripped New York City in the ’80s,” and the story is “about a cop’s daughter who, as her father clings to life following an assassination attempt, goes on a rampage to unearth her father’s attacker and weed out deep-rooted corruption in the New York City Police Department.”
The movie is being produced by Craig Flores, who offered some additional details in a statement saying: “Bella cleverly reinvents the female-led action genre pairing a sexy and unapologetic rock ‘n’ roll edge with the gritty heightened realism of ’80s New York City. Collaborating with Chad Stahelski and 87Eleven, whose talent is singular in bringing unparalleled action films to worldwide audiences, is a dream for me, Larysa, and Samara.”
This sounds like it will be a wild and over-the-top action movie that will be an awesome project for Weaving to jump into! I like what I’m hearing and I’m excited to see how this thing turns out!
