Samuel L. Jackson Says That Captain Marvel Can Travel Through Time
Samuel L. Jackson dropped an interesting bit of information regarding the character Captain Marvel (Brie Larson) during an interview with EW. If what he’s saying is true, this ability she has could play a role in Avengers: Endgame.
According to Jackson, Carol Danvers can travel through time. This is what he said in the interview:
“She’s pretty much the strongest character — in terms of someone with powers are able to do things — in the Marvel universe. So, for Carol Danvers to be that person and for Brie to become that person, it’s gonna be a dynamite thing. I mean, [the Avengers] are up against some really, really tough odds right now — we saw throughout Infinity War — so now we know that we need something that’s as powerful as Thanos. And at some point, we’ll find out how powerful she is and all the things that she’s capable of. She’s one of the few people in the Marvel universe that can time travel, so…”
As far as I know, in the comics, Danvers does not have the power to time travel. She has super strength, she can fly, she’s durable, she has the power to absorb energy, and she can shoot photon blasts from her hands. But time travel may be a new power in the MCU.
Of course, if this is the case, she could just go back and rewrite the whole history of the MCU if she wanted to. She could go back and put an end to Thanos when he was a kid if she wanted to. If she does have the ability to time travel, Marvel is going to have to explain a lot of things.
I personally hope that Jackson is just joking around with the fans or he’s just confused about some things. I don’t really like the idea that she can travel through time. There have to be some limits. If there’s going to be any kind of time travel, let it stick within the Quantum Realm. Perhaps he could mean that she is the only one that has the strength and ability to withstand the act of travel through time?
But remember, Endgame screenwriter Stephen McFeely has said that there will be no time travel in the film, so unless he’s lying, we can cut that out of the equation all together.
