Samuel L. Jackson Says SECRET INVASION "Ranks As Number One" of All the Marvel Projects He's Been in
The MCU kicked off fifteen years ago with the 2008 film Iron Man, where the post-credits scene became relevant, and we were introduced to Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury, the Director of S.H.I.E.L.D., and were promised a bigger, interwoven world of superheroes. Marvel delivered, and we have been on quite a ride since, with Fury popping up here and there to help tell the stories and solve problems on a galactic scale.
Now Fury is getting his own series, Secret Invasion, and Jackson says the show "ranks as number one" when it comes to Marvel productions he has appeared in. He also compared it to the fan-favorite Marvel flick Captain America: The Winter Soldier. In a recent press conference attended by GamesRadar+, Jackson said:
"I really loved Winter Soldier so that tone flows into this in a very real kind of way. It's a story about people doing people stuff you know, without all these superheroes coming in to save or help you."
In an interview from the June issue of Total Film magazine, producer Jonathan Schwartz also compared the series to the same film, saying that they have a lot to thank The Winter Soldier for:
"It certainly gave us a lot of confidence that we could tell a story in that space that felt more like a paranoid thriller. Secret Invasion takes that a step further, and you really get to dig into Nick. It becomes much more character-focused in a way that I really love."
This story is set in the present-day MCU, “Nick Fury learns of a clandestine invasion of Earth by a faction of shapeshifting Skrulls. Fury joins his allies, including Everett Ross, Maria Hill and the Skrull Talos, who has made a life for himself on Earth. Together they race against time to thwart an imminent Skrull invasion and save humanity.”
Secret Invasion will premiere on June 21st, exclusively on Disney+.
