Samuel L. Jackson Takes Over Texas in First Teaser for TULSA KING Spin-Off FRISCO KING

Samuel L. Jackson is getting into the crime business in Texas, and it looks like he's got some big plans. Paramount+ has released the first teaser for Frisco King, the upcoming spin-off of Taylor Sheridan's hit crime series Tulsa King, and this time Jackson is building a criminal empire of his own.

Jackson reprises his role as Russell Lee Washington Jr., a seasoned New Orleans gangster who was introduced in the third season of Tulsa King. He originally arrived in Tulsa with orders from the mob to kill Dwight Manfredi, played by Sylvester Stallone.

But after crossing paths with Dwight, Lee gets a different idea. Why work for someone else's criminal empire when he can run his own?

That decision takes him to Frisco, Texas, where he discovers that the seemingly respectable suburbs are full of opportunities for a guy who knows how to make money outside the law.

Rather than starting with some massive criminal operation, Lee begins recruiting people who can help him build something bigger. He brings in an ambitious protégé, a loyal driver, and an assortment of eccentric associates who help turn small-time hustles into a growing criminal enterprise.

Of course, the more successful Lee becomes, the more dangerous things get. Every new score brings bigger risks, and staying ahead of the competition becomes increasingly difficult.

The official synopsis reads: "Frisco King follows seasoned New Orleans gangster Lee Washington (starring Samuel L. Jackson) as he lands in Frisco, TX, and discovers a hustler's playground hidden beneath the polished surface of American suburbia.

“Recruiting an ambitious protégé, a loyal driver, and a growing network of eccentric partners, Lee transforms small hustles into big business. But, every new score raises the stakes, and as his influence grows, so do the risks, forcing Lee to stay one grift ahead. Frisco may not know it yet, but its new king has arrived."

Jackson is a great fit for this kind of character. Watching him play a gangster who decides to carve out his own territory in an upscale Texas suburb sounds like a lot of fun, especially with Sheridan handling the writing.

The series also stars Asa Germann, Kai Caster, Lilah Pate, and Savanna Gann, with Stallone making a special appearance as Dwight Manfredi. It'll be interesting to see how Dwight factors into Lee's new operation and whether their relationship creates more problems down the road.

Sheridan created the series and wrote every episode. He's certainly been keeping busy with projects that include Landman, The Madison, Dutton Ranch, Lioness, and Marshals.

The idea of Jackson playing a gangster who brings his particular brand of criminal business to the Texas suburbs has plenty of potential. If Frisco King can capture the same entertaining mix of crime, humor, and larger-than-life personalities that made Tulsa King a hit, this could be another fun series to follow.

Frisco King premieres on Paramount+ on December 18, 2026, launching with two episodes before moving to a weekly Friday release schedule.
