SANDMAN Season 2 Gets a Behind-The-Scenes Sneak Peek

Netflix has offered a first look at Season 2 of Neil Gaiman’s The Sandman in the form of a behind-the-scenes sneak peek. It includes cast and creatives taking talking about the series and showing offer footage from the set as they are shooting the show.

The series stars Tom Sturridge as Dream and Ruairi O’Connor as Orpheus the son of Dream, “The poet, musician, and oracle, is the only child of Dream and the muse, Calliope. Orpheus is an idealistic, romantic, young man – and very much his father’s son – until tragedy strikes and reveals to him the true nature of love.”

Also joining the series are Freddie Fox as Loki, Clive Russell as Odin, Laurence O’Fuarain as Thor, Ann Skelly as Nuala, Douglas Booth as Cluracan and Jack Gleeson as Puck.

All of these characters were featured in the “Season of Mists” arc from The Sandman graphic novels.

Then there’s Indya Moore, who will play Wanda and Steve Coogan will provide the voice of Barnabas the dog. These two characters first appeared in the “Brief Lives” storyline from the comics.

Previously announced cast members include Esmé Creed-Miles as Delirium, Adrian Lester as Destiny and Barry Sloane as “The Prodigal.”

These characters play an important part in the “Season of Mists” and “Brief Lives” storylines. They are the remaining members of “The Endless” family Dream is part of, and will join the returning siblings from Season 1, Death (Kirby), Desire (Mason Alexander Park), Despair (Donna Preston) and Dream.

Other cast members set to return include Patton Oswalt as Matthew the Raven, Vivienne Acheampong as Lucienne, Gwendoline Christie as Lucifer Morningstar, Jenna Coleman as Johanna Constantine, Ferdinand Kingsley as Hob Gadling, Stephen Fry as Gilbert, Asim Chaudhry as Abel, Sanjeev Bhaskar as Cain, Vanesu Samunyai as Rose Walker, and Razane Jammal as Lyta Hall.

In the series: “There is another world that waits for all of us when we close our eyes and sleep — a place called the Dreaming, where The Sandman, Master of Dreams, gives shape to all of our deepest fears and fantasies.

“But when Dream is unexpectedly captured and held prisoner for a century, his absence sets off a series of events that will change both the dreaming and waking worlds forever.

“To restore order, Dream must journey across different worlds and timelines to mend the mistakes he’s made during his vast existence, revisiting old friends and foes, and meeting new entities — both cosmic and human — along the way.”

The Sandman series is set up at Netflix and is being developed by Gaiman, showrunner Allan Heinberg and David S. Goyer.

Season 2 is coming in 2025.
