Scarlett Johansson Asked Marvel to Pull Her Producer Credit From THUNDERBOLTS*
Even with her character long gone from the MCU, Scarlett Johansson still can’t quite escape Marvel, though she’s clearly trying.
In a recent chat with Thunderbolts* co-star David Harbour for Interview Magazine, Johansson confirmed she asked Marvel Studios to remove her executive producer credit from the latest film.
“I asked to have my credit removed because I wasn’t involved.”
Johansson was originally listed as an EP on Thunderbolts*, likely due to her earlier producing role on Black Widow. But she made it clear she had nothing to do with the new film—and didn’t want the credit.
Harbour tried to poke the bear, joking, “You hated that movie.” Johansson shot back, “No, you’re just wanting that to be the case.”
The interview quickly turned into a playful Marvel reunion as the two actors, who played Natasha Romanoff and Alexei Shostakov, talked about who’s showing up in the next big crossover, Avengers: Doomsday.
Harbour coyly confirmed he’s in the movie. Johansson, despite no longer being under contract with Marvel, seemed to know plenty.
“I haven’t lost my magic Marvel touch yet. I’m not even contracted to Marvel and I’m still f—ing holding your secrets.”
Harbour fired back with a wink:
“Oh, come on, Scarlett. We all know you’re the secret character. We all know the Black Widow comes back from the dead.”
But Johansson shut it down with MCU logic:
“If I come back from the dead, then half the world’s population dies. Didn’t you see Endgame for Christ’s sake?”
So, no… don’t expect a Black Widow resurrection anytime soon. As for her next big-screen role? She’s headed back to blockbuster territory in Jurassic World: Rebirth, hitting theaters July 2.
