Scarlett Johansson Talks About All The Different Places Her BLACK WIDOW Movie Could Go

As you know, Marvel is currently developing a script for a Black Widow movie with screenwriter Jac Schaeffer. Scarlett Johansson may have already met with him to talk about some of the ideas they have for the story. If she hasn't, she will soon.

Black Widow is such a great and complex character with an intriguing story. There's so much about the character to explore and Johansson is committed to exploring her more in a standalone film. While talking to Variety, she said:

"I’m invested in that character. Marvel is greatly invested in that character. If I did it, I’d have to do it while I still actually wanted to wear a skin-tight cat suit. I don’t know how much longer that’s going to be."

As for the direction the story the solo film could go in, there are so many different options to choose from. There are even different timelines that her story could be set it. When talking about the multiple choices they have to choose from, she said:

"I would like for it to happen under the right circumstances. I think there’s a lot of opportunity to mine that story line. She’s got a really rich origins story. There’s a lot of places you can go, you can bring it back to Russia. You could explore the Widow program. There’s all kinds of stuff that you could do with it. You could really uncover the identity of who this person is, where she comes from and where she’s part of.
"There’s plenty of back story. Or not. It could be something else. Where do the Avengers go? They are underground. What happens then? What happens after it all falls apart? There are so many ways you can go. I think it would just have to be very much like its own specific thing. It would have to have its own specific vibe. It would have been totally different than any of the other standalone films. I think if the fans wanted it enough, then it would probably become a reality."

Well, I think it's safe to say that the fans do want it. We've been asking for a Black Widow solo film for years. If they start developing it like this, and it doesn't happen, that's going to be a huge disappointment.

Whatever direction they end up taking the solo film's story, I'm confident that Kevin Feige and the Marvel creative team will do what's best for the character. What that is, is yet to be seen. While we wait for any story details to surface, what would you like to see from a Black Widow solo film? What direction would you like to see Marvel take?
