Scream TV Series to Re-Create Drew Barrymore’s Scene from Original Film
I have no idea what to expect from the upcoming Scream-inspired TV series being developed by MTV. One of the last things we heard was that the series wouldn’t even feature the iconic Ghost Face mask, which kind of makes the series pointless, because that was Scream’s staple. But there’s a new bit of news that could mean otherwise.
There’s a report from Bloody Disgusting that indicates that they may actually pay homage to the original films after all. They say that the series will recreate the classic opening scene from the original Scream, and it will supposedly take place in the first episode of the series. That opening sequence is one of the most infamous horror scenes in movie history.
Actress Bella Thorne also confirmed in a fan chat via Yahoo Celebrity that she will be the victim in this scene. She was asked if the rumors of her appearing in Scream were true, and this was her reply:
“Yes it is true. I will re-enact the famous scene of Drew Barrymore in the original series.”
The series is said to center on a YouTube viral video that goes incredibly wrong. It will lead to adverse repercussions for teenager Audrey Jesen and will also serve as the “catalyst for a murder and opens up a window to the town’s troubled past.”
The first season will have 10 episodes, and it stars Willa Fitzgerald, Bex Taylor-Klaus, John Karna, Connor Weil, Carlson Young, Tracy Middendorf, Joel Gretsch, and newcomer Amadeus Serafini. It will debut in October 2015.
