Seann William Scott Reveals The Surprisingly Small Amount of Money He Made To Star in AMERICAN PIE
Seann William Scott’s character, Stiffler, was one of the most fun and entertaining aspects of the American Pie franchise. He was one of the big stars in the movie, but that doesn’t mean he made a lot of money to make it. In fact, Scott made a surprisingly low amount of money on the movie.
During a recent interview on the Rick Eisen Show, Scott revealed that he only made $8,000 to appear in the 1999 movie, which went on to make $235 million at the box office. But, he did say that it “was a lot of money for me at the time” and revealed:
“I remember afterwards I bought a used Thunderbird for like $5000 or maybe $6000, I’m like, ‘Oh yeah, baby’. I don’t know what happened to the other $2000 because I ended up having to work at the LA Zoo as a churro guy, so maybe it was even less than $8000.”
But, when the movie was released the actor’s career took off, and he was in a position to negotiate higher pay for the other film projects that he took on. As Scott continued working on the raunchy comedy franchise, he went on to earn a reported $5 million for his role in 2012 American Reunion. He most recently starred in a DoorDash commercial as Stiffler, alongside co-star Jason Biggs.
He has also appeared in films such as Dude Where’s My Car (2000), Final Destination (2000), Road Trip (2000), Evolution (2001), The Dukes of Hazzard (2005), Mr. Woodcock (2007) and Role Models (2008). He has also voiced the character of Crash in four Ice Age animated feature films and two Ice Age television specials.
Scott previously shared that we may get another sequel because there’s a “great idea” for one. He said:
"I just love the character so much. We have to have a great idea, and especially these days, it has to be awesome. You know, comedy is tough, and they have always been tough, but you know, comedies have really changed. But I think, honestly, we have been talking about an idea. I had one and I still have one that we've literally just recently started talking about."
Scott went on to say that it would be fun to make another sequel with Stifler in his mid-forties, still trying to figure his life out. He said:
"It would be so much fun to see, I think, fun, but also really fascinating to see a guy like Stifler in his mid-forties today trying to figure things out. A guy who hasn't really changed that much, but the world has changed, you know, what would his life be like? ... Is there a fun end to a story? I don't know if it'll ever happen."
Would you be up for another America Pie movie?
