Seth Green Open to Reprising His Role as Oz in BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER Revival Series

Another original Buffy The Vampire Slayer alum is ready to return to the franchise. Seth Green, who played the fan-favorite werewolf Oz, has confirmed he’d be open to reprising his role in Hulu’s planned Buffy revival.

While promoting Robot Chicken’s anniversary special, Green spoke with ComicBook about the possibility of stepping back into the role of Oz, saying: “I love that character, and if there was more story to tell, I’d be there to tell it.”

The revival already has Sarah Michelle Gellar locked in to return as Buffy Summers. The new series, being helmed by Oscar-winner Chloé Zhao and written by Nora and Lilla Zuckerman, will introduce a new Slayer while bringing back familiar faces from the original run.

Beyond his own interest, Green expressed confidence in Gellar’s leadership on the project, saying: “The upside of having Sarah [Michelle Gellar] involved so intimately with that revival is that she’s incredibly protective, not just with the quality of the work but the way people feel about it.”

Green’s Oz was a key figure in the show’s early seasons, known for his deadpan delivery and understated humor. As Willow’s (Alyson Hannigan) love interest, he brought emotional weight to the series before leaving midway through Season 4 in an arc that felt unfinished.

Though he made brief returns, I always thought that Oz’s story felt like it had more to give.

If Green does return, he wouldn’t be the only familiar face potentially stepping back into Sunnydale. James Marsters, who played Spike, also hinted at his excitement for the revival during an Instagram livestream, saying:

“I think the world needs her,” referring to Buffy. While details remain under wraps, the growing interest from original cast members signals that this revival may have more substance than previous failed attempts.

With Zhao directing and the Zuckerman sisters handling the script, alongside original producers Gail Berman, Fran Kuzui, Kaz Kuzui, and Dolly Parton, the new Buffy series is shaping up to be something special.
