SHAZAM! Has Cast Asher Angel in the Role of Young Billy Batson
Not long after we learned that Zachary Levi would take on the role of Shazam! in director David F. Sandberg's upcoming DC film, Variety is reporting that Asher Angel has been cast in the role of young Billy Baston.
Baston in the young boy in the story who can transform into a muscular adult superhero by uttering the magic word "Shazam!". "The name is an acronym for six gods and heroes of the ancient world as well as their attributes. The wisdom of Solomon, strength of Hercules, stamina of Atlas, power of Zeus, courage of Achilles and speed of Mercury."
I'm not really that familiar with Angel, but he's best known for his role as Jonah Beck on the Disney Channel series Andi Mack, which I've never watched. But, he seems to have the right look for the role!
Mark Strong is in talks to take on the role of the villain Doctor Sivana in the film, while Grace Fulton will play one of Baston’s friends.
