Sigourney Weaver Compares THE MANDALORIAN & GROGU to ANDOR: “It’s a Different World”

Sigourney Weaver is officially stepping into the galaxy far, far away with The Mandalorian & Grogu, and she recently talked about it explaining that this movie will stand apart from the darker tones of Andor.

Talking to Collider, Weaver didn’t hold back when asked about comparisons to the hit series: "It [Andor] won't be as good as The Mandalorian [& Grogu], just letting you know," she joked, before clarifying, "it's a different world."

That difference makes sense. Andor carved out its own lane with a grounded, political thriller style, while The Mandalorian has always leaned more into swashbuckling adventure and father-son storytelling with Din Djarin and Grogu.

Weaver also teased why she signed onto the project, saying: "I get to have scenes with a little Grogu which is probably why I did the movie. And he's a little badass too. It's going to be wonderful for people to see what Grogu is up to now because he's grown up a little bit and is capable of much more than maybe we think just watching the series."

Fans at Star Wars Celebration 2025 got a look at what’s coming in the film. The exclusive footage revealed Weaver’s mysterious character telling Pedro Pascal’s Mando, "right now, you work for us." The sneak peek also confirmed the introduction of Jeremy Allen White as Rotta the Hutt, a character fans have been curious about since his animated debut years ago.

Meanwhile, Andor continues to stand as the critical darling of live-action Star Wars, with Season 2 already being hailed as one of the best political thrillers on TV. Even Pascal recently praised the show, writing, "Unforgivably late to this party. The best political thriller series maybe ever?"

The Mandalorian & Grogu will be the first Star Wars movie released in theaters since The Rise of Skywalker. After that, fans can look forward to Star Wars: Starfighter starring Ryan Gosling and directed by Shawn Levy. On the series side, Ahsoka Season 2 and the animated Maul: Shadow Lord are also in the pipeline.

It sounds like this adventure will deliver a great story and bring plenty of surprises that fans will enjoy.
