Sigourney Weaver's Mysterious Role in THE MANDALORIAN & GROGU Reportedly Revealed
Sigourney Weaver has been a cornerstone of science fiction starring in films like Alien, Ghostbusters, and Avatar. So, it was exciting for fans to learn that she's heading to a galaxy far, far away in the upcoming Star Wars movie The Mandalorian & Grogu.
While Lucasfilm has kept her role tightly under wraps, a recent report suggests we might finally know who she’s playing.
During a previous interview, Weaver confirmed her involvement, saying, "I’m playing a role in The Mandalorian & Grogu [which will be directed by Jon Favreau]. I got to meet Grogu for the first time the other day. I’m filming that before I go to London for The Tempest at the end of the year."
While she didn’t share any specifics, industry insider Jeff Sneider recently dropped an intriguing detail claiming that Weaver is rumored to play a New Republic Colonel named Bishop.
Fans of James Cameron’s Aliens will immediately recognize the name as a nod to Lance Henriksen’s android (or "artificial person") from the film.
There’s a twist to her character, though, so if you don’t want to know what that is, just know there are possible SPOILERS ahead.
Sneider teases that Weaver’s character might not be a straight-up hero. Reports suggest she’ll have a minor role, but there’s a twist—Colonel Bishop could turn out to be a traitor.
Jon Favreau is directing the movie and it will bring back Pedro Pascal as Din Djarin. Meanwhile, The Bear star Jeremy Allen White is confirmed to play Rotta the Hutt, Jabba’s son.
As for the main antagonist, rumors point to The Clone Wars bounty hunter Embo, though Lucasfilm hasn’t confirmed this yet.
The Mandalorian & Grogu is set to hit theaters on May 22, 2026.
