Some of the STAR WARS: THE HIGH REPUBLIC Stories May Feature Yoda and Possibly Baby Yodas

Earlier this week Lucasfilm announced that they are releasing a series of new Star Wars books and comics that will be set during The High Republic era, which 200 years before the start of the Skywalker Saga, which is a time in the Star Wars universe that has not been explored.

It was also explained that this era is "a golden time. A time of peace and prosperity. A time when the Jedi really are galactic guardians, stewards of peace and justice." Before this announcement, there was a report that a series of films would be developed, which has since been debunked. When that rumor hit, though, I expressed my excitment about possibly seeing Yoda in his prime. Yoda has such a long history, and I’ve always wanted to see a story told that focuses on him in his younger years.

Well, it looks like we might actually get that! In an announcement video that was shared, some concept art and notes were teased, and it’s in these notes that we learn Yoda may be a part of this and that might also include Baby Yodas! Thanks to /Film for pointing these out! This made my day!

I’ve included some screenshots from the trailer for you to look at below. The first image features some sketches of Yoda by concept artist Iain McCaig, who is the artist that designed Darth Maul. Some of those sketches include younger versions of the character. Then there’s another screenshot of a white board that says, “Baby Yodas,” at the very bottom. Check these out:

It would make sense to include Yoda in some of these stories. He’s both the one Legacy character that was around during this era and a character that would be fun to play with during this time! It’ll also be interesting to learn more about Yoda and his kind, which is also probably going to be explored in The Mandalorian as well at some point. Will we see a village of filled with the species of Yoda including a bunch of Yodas of various ages? Probably.

We’ll find out more when The High Republic officially launches in August 2020.
