Sony Pictures Reportedly Wants More Crossovers with the Marvel Cinematic Universe with Its Spider-Man Universe Movies

The latest deal that Marvel Studio and Sony Pictures made with each other included one more solo Spider-Man film made with both studios involved and one more appearance of the character in a separate MCU film. But, there’s been a lot of talk and speculation about Marvel and Sony extending that deal for future crossovers.

Not only is Venom 2 going to have a connection to the MCU with the inclusion of Michael Keaton’s Vulture among other things, but director Olivia Wilde previously teased Kevin Feige’s involvement with the Spider-Woman film that she might be directing.

Well, The Direct is reporting that Sony Pictures “wants to have more crossovers with the MCU to help boost their own Sony Universe of Marvel Characters. This includes examples such as Venom and other symbiotic beings appearing in Marvel Studios' MCU projects.”

According to their source, DanielRPK, “Sony had even hoped to have Captain America help set up the Sinister Six, although now such a move would have to happen with Sam Wilson’s Cap instead of Steve Rogers’.”

Well, the two studios have had a successful working relationship so far, so it’s not hard to believe that they could continue this relationship down the road if they are willing to negotiate terms that will benefit each side. I guess it all depends on how important the Spider-Man universe is to the MCU and whether they want their MCU films connected to Sony’s subpar movies.

Do you think that Marvel and Sony will continue their relationship beyond their current Spider-Man deal?
