Sony's VENOM Film Will Star Tom Hardy and Be Directed By Ruben Fleischer!
We've got some huge news for Sony Picture's Venom film! Deadline is reporting that Tom Hardy is set to star in the film as Venom a.k.a. Eddie Brock and Zombieland director Ruben Fleisher will be directing it!
Damn! This Venom film could be freakin' awesome! It was also announced that the studio would start production this fall, and will be released in theaters on October 5th, 2018.
Sony Pictures is pushing this project forward fast! I honestly didn't think it would all come together so quickly. What's funny about this is that two years ago, when Drew Goddard (Cabin in the Woods) was attached to direct, he said he loved the idea of Hardy taking on the role of Venom, and it looks like the studio agreed. Then there's Hardy, who's a big fan of the character. He even took a selfie for the big announcement wearing a Venom shirt.
According to the report, Hardy’s version of Eddie Brock "is able to converse and have a relationship with the symbiote, which culminates to him becoming Venom."
I don't know about you, but I'm excited about this! It's previously been reported that film will not be a part of the MCU, which means he most likely won't have any contact with Tom Holland's Spider-Man, which is a shame. The movie will be rated R and it's said to be launching a separate cinematic universe with many of the other characters that reside in the Spider-verse. That includes The Black Cat and Silver Sable movie currently being written by Thor: Ragnarok writer Chris Yost.
What do you all think about Tom Hardy taking on the role of Venom!?
