SPIDER-MAN: BRAND NEW DAY Report Teases a Major Reunion Scene
Production on Spider-Man: Brand New Day has been moving forward in London, and while Tom Holland is currently taking a short break after suffering an on-set injury during an action sequence, a new rumor has surfaced about what was recently filmed.
According to scooper Daniel Richtman, "They [were] filming a scene with Peter meeting MJ and Ned." That’s a huge reveal if true, since Spider-Man: No Way Home ended with Zendaya’s Michelle “MJ” Jones-Watson and Jacob Batalon’s Ned Leeds forgetting Peter Parker even existed.
The last time we saw them, Peter visited MJ at the coffee shop where she worked, and there was a subtle hint that she may have recognized something familiar about him.
If Richtman’s scoop is accurate, the next movie could finally pay that moment off. The big question is whether this is a random encounter or if it points to Doctor Strange’s spell somehow unraveling in Brand New Day.
Holland recently shared how much thought he put into shaping this new chapter for the wall-crawler. "I did a lot of sneaky research online—looking at what people were saying in the interim between Spider-Man: No Way Home and now Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
“I really just kind of put together a vibe of what people were looking for and went to Marvel and said, 'This is what I think we should be doing.'"
He added, "And I think that's exactly what we are doing. So, it's been a really fun process developing the movie. It's the first time I've ever been allowed in that part of the process, and it's definitely a stressful experience. But I think where we've got to, now that we're shooting, we are shooting absolute gold."
I like his confidence. Spider-Man: Brand New Day is being directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, best known for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, with a script from Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers.
The cast also includes Jon Bernthal, Mark Ruffalo, Zendaya, Sadie Sink, Michael Mando, Tramell Tillman, and Liza Colón-Zayas. Thunderbolts star Florence Pugh is also rumored to make an appearance.
The film swings into theaters on July 31, 2026.
