SPIDER-MAN: BRAND NEW DAY Rumor Teases a Tense Clash Between Spidey and the Punisher Over Scorpion

A new rumor from the set of Spider-Man: Brand New Day has swung online, and it points to a wild early confrontation between Tom Holland’s Peter Parker and Jon Bernthal’s Frank Castle, and it might all kick off over none other than Scorpion.

Though Marvel Studios and Sony haven’t officially confirmed the plot, the current rumor has Spidey and The Punisher teaming up to take down a savage, rampaging Hulk (played once again by Mark Ruffalo). But just because these two street-level heroes are on the same mission doesn’t mean they’ll see eye to eye, especially with Castle’s shoot-first mentality.

Scooper Daniel Richtman dropped details about a scene being filmed in Glasgow, Scotland, and according to Richtman, Castle is behind the wheel of a tank, which he allegedly jacked from the Inner Demons, and he’s chasing down a vehicle carrying Michael Mando’s Mac Gargan, aka Scorpion.

The Punisher’s plan is to run the vehicle off the road and presumably execute Gargan in his usual brutal fashion. But Peter Parker isn’t having any of that. Once Spider-Man catches wind of Castle’s deadly intentions, he jumps in to stop him, sparking what looks to be their first major clash in the film.

What did Scorpion do to land himself in Castle’s crosshairs? That part remains unclear, but it doesn’t take much to push Frank Castle into action.pain problems

This scene sounds like it could be a major turning point in establishing the shaky alliance between Spidey and The Punisher. We’ve already seen footage of Holland’s stunt double on set and glimpses of the tank in question being used during rehearsals.

Alongside Holland, Bernthal, and Ruffalo, Spider-Man: Brand New Day will also feature Sadie Sink and Liza Colón-Zayas in undisclosed roles. Both Zendaya and Jacob Batalon are returning as MJ and Ned Leeds, respectively.

Director Destin Daniel Cretton recently shared his enthusiasm for the project during CinemaCon, saying:

“I’m spending my time exploring the next stage of this amazing character with a team of the most incredible artists in the world. We’re all, just daily, nerding out over the suit, how to swing, how to create an event, an emotional story, and a ride that we haven’t really seen before.”

Sounds like fans are in for something fresh and bold when Spider-Man: Brand New Day hits theaters on July 31, 2026.
