SPIDER-MAN: BRAND NEW DAY Rumored to Include a Massive MCU Death That Fans Won’t See Coming

Marvel fans who thought the Spider-Man movies had already played their most devastating card with Aunt May’s death in Spider-Man: No Way Home might want to brace themselves.

A new report suggests that Spider-Man: Brand New Day could feature a character death that’s even bigger and far more shocking than anyone expected.

The upcoming sequel is shaping up to be a major crossover event. Tom Holland is back once again as Peter Parker, marking his seventh appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He’s joined by Mark Ruffalo, returning for his eleventh turn as Bruce Banner.

The cast also pulls in Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle, Michael Mando as Mac Gargan, along with Zendaya as MJ and Jacob Batalon as Ned Leeds. That’s a lineup packed with characters fans are deeply attached to, which immediately puts everyone on edge when it comes to who might not make it out alive.

After No Way Home proved that Marvel Studios and Sony are willing to make brutal choices, speculation around a major death has been swirling. Most fans assumed that if anyone was at risk, it would be a supporting character.

Very few ever considered the possibility that Peter Parker himself could be the one facing the ultimate fate.

That’s where scooper Alex Perez from Cosmic Circus enters the conversation. Responding on X to a fan wondering whether Disney could kill off Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man in Avengers: Doomsday due to Sony’s ownership of the character, Perez dropped a jaw-dropping tease.

He wrote, “They’ve killed Tom Holland twice so.” He quickly followed up with a correction, adding, “I mean… once.”

Of course, that “once” refers to Peter Parker being dusted by Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War before returning five years later in Avengers: Endgame.

Still, the implication was enough to send fans into full theory mode, especially with rumors now pointing toward Holland’s Spider-Man potentially being killed off in Brand New Day.

One popular theory connects this possible death to the long-awaited arrival of the symbiote storyline in the MCU. With Avengers: Secret Wars on the horizon, many believe Peter Parker is finally headed toward the iconic black suit, echoing his comic book arc from the 1980s Secret Wars series.

The groundwork is already there. A fragment of the Venom symbiote was left behind on Earth-616 at the end of No Way Home after Tom Hardy’s Eddie Brock was pulled into the MCU by Doctor Strange.

If Peter Parker does die in Brand New Day, some fans think the symbiote could play a role in bringing him back during Secret Wars, setting the stage for a darker, more intense evolution of the character.

As always with Marvel rumors, it’s smart to keep expectations in check. Scoop culture isn’t flawless, and plans can always change. Still, the idea of a Spider-Man movie ending with Peter Parker’s death is enough to make this one of the most talked-about MCU projects in years.

All questions will finally be answered when Spider-Man: Brand New Day swings into theaters on July 31, 2026.
