Spider-Man Will Reportedly Wear the Black Symbiote Suit in AVENGERS: SECRET WARS

A new rumor making the rounds online suggests that Spider-Man might swing into Avengers: Secret Wars wearing one of the character’s most iconic comic book looks, the black symbiote suit.

While nothing has been officially confirmed, the possibility has fans speculating about what Marvel Studios might have planned for the wall-crawler when the massive crossover film hits theaters in 2027.

At the moment, Tom Holland hasn’t been formally announced as part of the cast for either Avengers: Secret Wars or Avengers: Doomsday. Still, there are reports that Spider-Man will play an important role in the upcoming Marvel events.

There’s even been rumors that Secret Wars might expand into a two-part story, which would give Marvel even more room to bring in major characters and alternate versions from across the multiverse.

The latest report comes from Hollywood scooper My Time To Shine Hello. The insider recently posted a comic book cover on X showing Spider-Man wearing the black suit and included the message:

“Spider-Man is getting the symbiote and black suit in Avengers Secret Wars.”

Of course, it’s important to remember that this is only a rumor right now. The post also didn’t clarify which version of Spider-Man could wear the suit. With the multiverse in play, it could theoretically be Holland’s Peter Parker, Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man, or even Tobey Maguire’s version.

MTTSH has previously hinted that Holland’s Spider-Man could have a major presence in the film. In an earlier post, the scooper claimed that “Tom Holland will play a HUGE role in Avengers Secret Wars.”

As of now, though, neither the film’s directors, Joe Russo and Anthony Russo, nor Holland himself has addressed the claim.

Holland has kept his cards close to the chest when it comes to the character’s long-term future. During a past interview Holland talked about where his focus currently sits while acknowledging that the bigger picture remains uncertain.

“I think with anything, it’s all about what’s in front of you, and right now what’s in front of us is Spider-Man: Brand New Day, and focusing on making that movie worthy of the last film.

“I have been actively sifting through the internet and trying to best understand what it is that the fans want from a Spider-Man movie, and that’s been my driving force in these pitch meetings. In terms of my future in the character beyond this film, I don’t know the answer to that.”

Before we even get close to Secret Wars, fans will see where Peter Parker’s story goes next in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. That film will pick up after the emotional reset at the end of Spider-Man: No Way Home, leaving Peter completely on his own with the world forgetting who he is.

If Marvel does decide to introduce the symbiote suit in Secret Wars, it would be an exciting moment pulled straight from comic book history. The black suit storyline first appeared during Marvel’s original Secret Wars comic event in the 1980s, where Peter unknowingly bonded with the alien symbiote that eventually became Venom.

For now, this rumor should be taken with a grain of salt. Still, the idea of seeing Spider-Man swing into a multiversal war wearing the legendary black suit is the kind of possibility that’s hard for Marvel fans not to get excited about.

With Secret Wars shaping up to be the MCU’s biggest crossover yet, anything seems possible.
