AVENGERS: SECRET WARS Rumor Teases a Massive Spider-Man Reunion and Deadpool’s Huge MCU Impact

A new rumor has surfaced regarding Marvel’s Avengers: Secret Wars, and it involves a full-blown Multiversal party with some very specific web-slinging and fourth-wall-breaking chaos baked in.

We know that Avengers: Doomsday won’t include Tom Holland’s Spider-Man. That surprised some fans, but it lines up with what Marvel Studios appears to be setting up. Spider-Man: Brand New Day is expected to finally cut Peter Parker loose from the Avengers, pushing him into a more isolated chapter of his story.

If that’s the case, then the Avengers-sized hole left behind needs filling, and that’s reportedly where Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man swings back into action.

Multiple reports have already suggested Maguire’s wall-crawler steps up in Holland’s absence, which makes perfect sense in a Multiversal storyline. But here’s where things get even more interesting.

According to insider @MyTimeToShineH, Marvel isn’t stopping with just one Spider-Man. The claim is that Holland, Maguire, and Andrew Garfield will all appear in Avengers: Secret Wars, setting up another three-Spider-Man reunion.

The catch is timing. Marvel is apparently holding that card until the 2027 event film, letting the anticipation simmer. That same insider also says the Spider-Men won’t be the only ones playing major roles.

Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool is also reportedly set to have a “big role” alongside them. If Secret Wars really is set largely on Battleworld, the idea of Deadpool cutting loose in that environment feels like exactly the kind of chaos Marvel would want for its biggest crossover yet.

It also adds fuel to ongoing rumors that Secret Wars could be split into two movies, because there’s a lot going on here, and even Marvel’s longest runtimes have limits.

Garfield himself has been pretty open about what it would take for him to suit up again. Speaking last year, he said, “I would love to play the character again in some capacity, but I think it would have to be very weird. I think I would like to do something very strange, I would want to do something very unique, and offbeat and surprising.”

He also expanded on that idea by saying, “I think what it would take is a great idea, a great concept. Something that is surprising and odd and fun, joyful. It has to be worthwhile. I think we had such a great time on that last one that you want to just go, ‘Okay. Leave it. It was great. It worked. It was a risk and it really, really worked.’”

Garfield then added, “I'm so happy that they had the courage to do it. It's such a great idea. I would never have had that foresight. So I'm really just proud and happy that I get to be a part of that. But if there's something that can be concocted and thought up that feels additive to the canon of that character, then for sure.”

If Marvel is bringing back all three Spider-Men and pairing them with Deadpool for Avengers: Secret Wars, it sounds like they’re aiming to top even Spider-Man: No Way Home in terms of fan excitement.

For now, the countdown continues. Avengers: Doomsday hits theaters on December 18, and Avengers: Secret Wars is currently scheduled to arrive on December 17, 2027.
