SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME Writers Considered a Post-Credits Scene Involving Fan-Favorite Characters
Early in the development process of Marvel’s Spider-Man: No Way Home, there were all kinds of ideas being thrown around regarding how to handle the story and the characters. There were also a lot of characters that the creative team wanted to include in the film, which didn’t happen. In the end, Marvel and the creative team pulled off something awesome and the fans are absolutely loving it!
There was another idea that was considered for a post-credits scene that would have involved a couple of fan-favorite characters. If you haven’t watched Spider-Man: No Way Home yet, then I should let you know, spoilers are coming. It involves the film’s worst kept secret. If you know, you know.
The film’s screenwriters Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers have revealed that they discussed a post-credits scene that involved Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire’s versions of Spider-Man/Peter Parker. Here's what McKenna had to say when asked about possibly bringing back them back at some point:
"I would hope so! I would love to see more of their journey. We even talked about, 'Oh, we could do a [post-credits] tag with this one! We could do a tag with that one!'"
I think fans would have loved a post-credits scene involving these versions of Spider-Man! I would have! I have no idea if we are going to ever see them again, but it’s certainly possible. Hell, anything is possible at this point, and it’s safe to say that fans would love to see the journey of these characters continue. We’ll just have to wait to see what Sony and Marvel end up doing.
Sommers jokingly said, "Can we do a TV show with the two of them traveling around in a van solving mysteries?"
Yep, sign me up! What do you think about Garfield and Maguire returning as Spider-Man, and would you like to see the journey of their characters continue?
